12 Home Remedies for Puffy Eyes

Sparkling and bright eyes attract attention. Red and puffy eyes make you look ill and tired. Puffy eyes tend to be one of the most common problems for one’s beauty. You are likely to be waking up with puffy eyes for a wide range of reasons including — sleeping on your face, lack of sleep, crying, menstruating, pregnancy, eating salty food and drink water less than one hour before bed.
Here are 12 home remedies for puffy eyes that can help you get relief —
 

Rubbing your eyes aggravates them and only makes them puffier. Try to avoid rubbing your eyes when they are puffy.
Potato and cucumber are nature’s best ingredients for relieving puffy eyes. Slice a small raw cucumber or potato into small pieces and then blend it into a fine consistency. Reserve the pulp after straining the excess juice. Now mix the pulp with a cup of basil tea. Then, pour this mixture into an ice tray and freeze it. Dab the ice cube onto your closed eyes for a period of time when you have red or puffy eyes. When finished, rinse your eyelids and then pat your eyelids dry.
Use your finger to gently press along the eye socket and eyebrow area. This stimulates the lymphatic system as well as helps drain excess fluid. This will reduce any swelling.
Place a spoon in the fridge for several minutes. After it has gotten cold, take it out and then hold the round portion to your eye for a few minutes. This helps reduce puffiness of your eyes.
Mix two tablespoons of mineral water in a glass of regular water. Bathe your eyes in the solution three to four times per day in order to make your sore and red eyes look sparkling and healthy.
Applying a cold compress to your eyes can reduce puffiness. Examples of cold compress include ice cubes wrapped in a wash cloth or a cloth dipped in cold water. Apply the cold compress at least five times per day until the puffiness goes away and your eyes have drained out.
Applying a cold tea bag to your eye sockets reduces puffiness and makes your skin taut. The tannin, natural astringent in tea, works wonders.
Soak a cotton wool pad in either ice cold milk or iced water. Lay down with the dampened pads over your eyes closed. Replace the pads when they become warm. Continue this process until the puffiness reduces. This process will also brighten the white part of your eyes.
When you drink lots of water, you keep your body hydrated; which in turn reduces the puffiness that surrounds your eyes.
Make sure you get regular sleep. Not getting enough sleep will show in your eyes as well as other parts of the body. Sleep is known to soothe the eyes as well as relieve fatigue.
Dip cotton balls in ice cold rose water. Use these as eye pads over your closed eyes for relief.
Add a drop of witch hazel to beaten egg whites. Apply this mixture under the eyes to make the skin tighter and less puffy.
